History of Majure Retail Group & Southeast Ace
1968
David Majure Sr. opens a Fred’s Dollar Store franchise in downtown Meridian, Mississippi.
1980
MRG becomes the largest Fred’s franchisee by acquiring a multi-state group of stores
giving MRG +25 stores operating in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia & Louisiana.
1993
David Majure II comes to work in the business and is tasked with helping make the transition from the dollar store category to the discount store & pharmacy category.
1995
1st Fred’s Pharmacy is opened in Quitman, Mississippi.
2005
David Majure Sr. passes away leaving David Majure II as President of MRG.
2014
Opening of pharmacy in Charleston, Mississippi, gives MRG a 50% saturation of pharmacy departments in its group of stores.
2018
MRG opens first Ace Hardware in Meridian, Mississippi while completing the sale of all but one of its Fred’s Pharmacies.
2021
MRG begins rebranding to Southeast Ace as it opens in Tuscaloosa, Alabama giving it 5 stores in 3 years. Its remaining Fred’s Pharmacy in Quitman, Mississippi is the ONLY Fred’s left in the country.
